Aquarium resources. Learn about setting up a fish tank and maintaining an established tank.

Choosing Aquarium Size

What size tank do you want? What size tank can your space handle? What size tank can you afford? What type of fish do you want and how much money do you want to be spending to stock your tank? These are all important questions, and the answers to these questions will probably determine what you end up with.

Portability

From a moving and transport standpoint, if you move often you may want to go with a 20-55 gallon size tank. 75 gallon tanks and larger tend to get hard to move and transport. Also, you may want a large tank, but maybe simply do not have room for a 120 gallon tank.

Your Aquarium Budget

From a cash standpoint, the larger the tank you buy, the more money you’ll probably end up spending to stock the tank with fish. You’ll also need to buy more powerful filtration, larger lighting fixtures, and spend more money on fish food. Take all that into consideration.

A Strong Foundation for your Aquarium

Once you decide on a tank size, you’ll need to find a stand. Stands will come in a variety of heights with a variety of storage features and access areas. Take the time to look at a few different models and make sure you get a stand that will be a good fit for your room, power outlet arrangement, and height preference.
